Due to the protracted cold temperatures and blowing and drifting snow, we will again be offering free shelled corn. Effective Saturday February 8th, the Blue Earth County Chapter of Minnesota Pheasants, Inc. will make available a gravity box wagon for self serve distribution of corn. The wagon will be located in the MinnStar parking lot on Main Street in downtown Good Thunder – next to the drive-thru teller lane.
This is on the honor system, please be thoughtful of others that would also like to take advantage of this offer. You will need to bring your own containers. Remember, corn is heavy so bring smaller containers or bags. A bushel of corn weights 55 to 60 pounds. We will attempt to have nylon bags next to the wagon for you to use – but, bring your own container if possible in the event we are unable to procure the bags.
Please don’t feed pheasants directly off a roadway as this draws the birds to the road and often ends up with them being hit by passing cars. If possible, place the corn off the road in a windswept area that will not drift over with snow. We will monitor the wagon and fill it as needed but please take only what you can effectively put out for pheasants. We hope to get participation from a broad countywide area.
We wish to thank MinnStar Bank for their continued support and for allowing us to place the wagon on their property!! We would also like to thank John Caven for the use of his wagon – we appreciate it!
And, thanks to all of you for your help in getting this corn out!
